Princess Elizabeth has made a trip to Sremska Mitrovica hospital. She has delivered 26 boxes of medicine and hospital supplies.

The Princess Elizabeth Foundation Student Scholarship Awards

Every year, college students have been writing The Princess Elizabeth Foundation, asking to help finance their education. This past year, the Foundation awarded 6 students:

Ana P. :  Ana is a Serbian who came to the United States in August 1998, as an exchange student. She spent her first several months living with a host family. She finished her senior year of high school at Sherman E. Burroughs High School, in Ridgecrest, California. There, she studied subjects such as Chemistry, American Government and AP Calculus. Ana has a passion for music and joined the music program at Burroughs High School. She has studied vocal and piano for many years, and participated in her church choir this past year. Back home, Ana took part in math and science clubs. She reported that she tutored students in mathematics and science this past academic year. In addition, Ana was involved in organizations, which gave her the opportunity to participate in international cultural exchanges. Upon graduating from Burroughs High School, Ana began her studies in fall of 1999, at Cerro Coso Community College, in Ridgecrest, California. Ana has goals and aspirations to work in the field of medicine.

Ivan B. :  Ivan graduated from high school in June 2000. He will begin his freshman year at Mississippi State University in fall of 2000.

Jelena M. :  Jelena is a fifth year medical student at the School of Medicine, University of Belgrade. She holds an interest in experimental and clinical investigations in the field of neurology, with pharmacological implications. Jelena played a major role in a project concerning symptomatology and disease dynamics of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in childhood. In February 2000, Jelena was chosen to present her research papers regarding neurological features of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) at the 26th Annual Eastern-Atlantic Student Research Forum, in Miami, Florida.

Marija I. :  Marija is a Serbian, who came to the United States from Belgrade in 1998 as an exchange student. Upon graduation from Reynoldsburg High School, in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Marija enrolled at Ohio-Wesleyan University, in Delaware, Ohio where she plans to major in Genetics.

Petar Z. :  Petar is currently an eleventh year high school student in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. He is planning on spending his last year in high school in the United States this year. Petar is an avid waterpolo player, and is a member of the Partizan Waterpolo Club, the most successful club in Europe. He has been awarded about 30 medals from various tournaments. Petar has also taken up tennis, karate, basketball and swimming in past years. He has other hobbies aside from sports, which include, music, movies, computers, acting and going out with his friends.

Zeljka R. :  Zeljka came to the United States in 1998 as an exchange student. She lived with a host family in South Royalton, Vermont, for close to a year. Zeljka completed her senior year of high school in South Royalton. Her interests are journalism, psychology and art history. Upon graduation, she went on to study at Frederick Community College, in Frederick, Maryland. She studied Human Relations, Journalism, Statistics, Geography and Spanish her first year. Zeljka reports that she enjoyed the classes and feel they will be useful in the future. Zeljka plans to study International Studies. Her dream is to help people by working for the Red Cross.

Fall

Internationally recognized as a humanitarian and children’s advocate, Princess Elizabeth has labored long and hard to improve the quality of life for the people in her warn-torn country. Working with RUDO, the Institute for Orthopedic Prosthetics, her non-profit charitable organization provides the parts required to construct limbs for the worst case, young victims, often injured by land mines. In cooperation with the International Children’s Heart Foundation, the Princess has developed a program to provide open-heart surgery for hundreds of children born in need.

As countless American women know, Princess Elizabeth is also the spokesperson on QVC for her two lines of fragrances and bath products. She has generously donated gifts from her collections as favors for The Miracle Tour 2000 attendees.

NBA Star to Serve as National Spokesman

Vlade Divac is the star center for the NBA's Sacramento Kings. He is also from Serbia. Vlade is a great giver and great citizen of his community, having his own children's foundation. Now he has agreed to become the national spokesman for Children of the World and The Princess Elizabeth Foundation. As you can see by the photo, Vlade and Princess Elizabeth were delighted to meet each other at the Miracle Tour event in Los Angeles.

An evening of music/aution/entertainment on the Santa Monica Pier, at the Arcadia and Carouse rooms. Merv Griffin was a huge addition, Catherine Oxenburg, Casper Van Dien, all on honorary committee as well. Catherine and Casper were the evenings MC'S. Vlade and his wife Ana Divac of the Sacramento Kings was at the corporate reception, evening before. Lili Hayden with Norton Wisdom performed, award winning guitarist, MARINO, Chris Brown, Kate Fenner, Rebecca Fink, Andrew Whiteman, Erica Mejia and Children the World Choir. There was a fabulous fashion show to add to the festivities.

The Maritime Miracle Masquerade Ball was held on The Berkely, a restored 1898 ferryboat, a national historical landmark. The Mistress of Ceremonies was Gina Lew, a well known journalist. For ten years she was a reporter and top-rated morning news anchor for KFMB-TV, Channel 8, covering breaking stories in the Southern California areas. Other notables include: Father Bozidar Drascovic of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, born in Montenegro, he escaped from the communist country in a boxcar. Father Milan Vukovic, has served at St. Petka, San Marcos the past 13 years. He was born in Dalmacia, Croatia, former republic of Yugoslavia. Velimir Petakovic, ordained in 1962, served in three parishes-Gary, Indiana, San Diego and San Marcos before retiring. On Sunday the 29th of October, all went to the Serbian Orthodox Church which was arranged by a  volunteer and members of San Diego's St. George are attending St. Petka in honor of the Slava.

Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth was delighted to be able to join members and friends of the St. Petka Serbian Orthodox Church in celebration of the church's patron saint. To help raise funds for Children of the World and The Princess Elizabeth Foundation efforts in Yugoslavia, Bosnia, Romania and the U.S., a Commemorative Book will be published.
